effort-less effort {or} bringing my yoga to life

i have favorite words- words
that just feel so volumptuous and sensual and give such pleasure to say, explore, embrace-
embody.
my word in this timeless now is:
expansion
just say it: expansion  expansion
my lifeprocess gets enveloped into my yoga sadhana (spiritual study) and my
students and i benefit::
4example
when i teach triangle pose (trikonasana), i emphasis expansion/

focusing on the feeling-sensations and the moving of energy in each physical limb and within -
{1}  i first instruct students to step out and form a comfortable base, angle the feet in the direction of movement, stretch the arms at shoulder height, and gaze straight ahead [or close the eyes].  that's it. we stand there until we're not even aware of how many breaths have passed-just feeling/ breathing.
{2}  in this "justfeeling", we notice how the legs extend gently out from the open hips, we feel the roots of the heels and toes draw into the earth, the shoulders relax out away from the ears and liberate heart-energy to flow across the front and back-body, into the fingers, into infinity; the crown of the head opens with light while thinking becomes inferior to de'light.
{3}  we gently flow into the posture, triangle, breathing this awareness of our energy expanding in all directions evenly.  while in the pose, we reflect on this expansion and the energy continues as we breath back up to standing.
{4}  so---even if we have done the triangle pose a zillion times before, it is new again, it is NOW again.  Conscious expansion, letting your energy move out from your center of being and throughout the form, creates internal freedom+
inspires an indescribable comfort that must be experienced to know.
"When harmony and integration begin through practice in our inner layers of being, there is immediately a beginning to harmony and integration with the world we live in."   --B.K.S. Iyengar, renowned yoga master

Thank you for this post. I've let my yoga practice go and have been thinking about starting again. You've given me the push I need!! : ))

I love how, when we expand our thoughts to encompass more of whatever we are inviting into our lives, the Universe responds with opportunities to experience it. I am especially grateful for how my life has expanded with new friendships, like ours.
